About Stripy Lightbulb CIC

Stripy Lightbulb CIC is a registered Community Interest Company that works for the benefit of the M.E./C.F.S. community.

This online training organisation will help the M.E./C.F.S. community in three ways:

  1. The stigma surrounding the illness will lessen as a result of the training;
  2. The support patients receive from participants of the training will be more beneficial and appropriate to the condition;
  3. Surplus will be put towards M.E./C.F.S. research funding, of which there is a severe shortage.

Stripy Lightbulb CIC’s Managing Director, Sally Callow, is herself an M.E./C.F.S. patient and has lived with the disease since 2006, she has also been an M.E./C.F.S. advocate with her organisation ME Foggy Dog (also now a social enterprise) since 2014.

This online training organisation is the result of thousands of conversations held between Sally and M.E./C.F.S. patients that identified a need for training for professionals who have a duty of care over M.E./C.F.S. patients.

Although anyone in the wider community will benefit from participating in this training, we have identified three key industries in need of training: Healthcare, Employers (Human Resources and Occupational Health), and Education. We have designed the courses to be industry-specific to ensure maximum benefit for participants. These three industries have the most contact with M.E./C.F.S. patients in their daily lives. M.E./C.F.S. training will lead to greater support and understanding for M.E./C.F.S. patients and will create more effective working practices for the professionals who participate.
